Their first collaboration was the Comical eye’s British Monarchy, a fold-out booklet illustrating the succession of kings and queens from Saxon times to Charles III, published by SelfMadeHero in 2023. Catch a glimpse here.
Following the success of the Monarchy, it seemed a natural progression to move to Shakespeare, starting with Romeo and Juliet.
For Leo it was an opportunity to grapple with the plays with genuine intensity, reading through scholarly editions of the text and watching film versions to get to the essential bones of the story.
Teresa had a lifetime of experience in the theatre. Her parents, Rosemary Vercoe and Patrick Robertson, had worked respectively as a costumier and a set designer with Jonathan Miller on a series of productions that had revolutionised Shakespeare staging.
Since Romeo and Juliet, they have worked on Midsummer Night’s Dream, Henry IV Part One, Hamlet, Twelfth Night and Macbeth.
